New Faith Poem by Bob House

New Faith

Our lives put on trial by TV
And sentenced by magazines
Berated by idealised icons
Brainwashed in our teens
Success, money and beauty
The new holy trinity
We’ve mortgaged our existence
For a term of infinity

We worship at the altar
Of wealth and celebrity
Where our media mogul masters
Voice our mediocrity
No longer are we ruled by guilt
Or a fear of doing wrong
We’re chained to our inadequacies
Different lyrics but same song
