'New Streets' Poem by Pushpinder Kaur

'New Streets'

Rating: 4.7

New Streets

New streets
New corners
And a sea of new people.

The hours of flights,
The distances apart
make the heart
feel
Like some core images of life
are being left behind
Or
Have been…

The image of the moment
of my Mother's farewell to us all-

Sigh…sigh…sigh!

God hold Time before
Such a moment.

Eyes closed to the outside world
and
turned inward into
the darkness of the inner light,
I am with you Mom, now and Always

And you with me!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Being placed away from home (doubly away- first from homeland and then the country of residence) led me to a sense of strange nostalgia; it feels as if a lot has been left behind! The mind travels distances in strange ways!

Thank you, Pushpinder, for sharing such an emotional piece of poetry. At one time or the other we all have to come across such partings which leave a big void not likely to be filled up soon. A girl's parting with her mother is most painful based on their in-built nature. Stay Blessed.

Sea of new people is seen in new street with new hope. This amazes mind. Darkness of inner light keeps emotion to light up with brightness again while a child remains with mother. God holds time before. Giving farewell to mother is painful but time brings turning in life. Amazing and emotional poem is shared here.10
