New Word: The Smell Of Aging

Rating: 5.0

In my Chambers, in fact,
I came across 'canescent'
as getting old,
or 'greying' as we say for tact;
after the Latin for 'hoary', 'canus'.

Let's break it into canes- and -scent,
the latter from Latin for 'sense',
and 'canescent' re-purpose;
make 'canessence' concern
not the greying of the hair
but the smell of those on the turn.
