New Year 2021 Poem by Jananie Balaji

Last year began with mighty cheer
Sparking an ocean of dreams and ploys
Lil was foreseen of tolerant Mother Nature's
Reprimanding, invisible, lethal envoys!

Caught unaware, yet caught everywhere,
Homes were havens, we were forced to hide!
Millions were lain with prayers and pain!
There was quiet on the streets and fear inside!

Jobs were taken, families shaken
Doctors labored to make infections abate
Economies collapsed in this deadly juggernaut
A flight, an embrace could spike the spread rate!

Ignoring sources, we pursued the research
To look for that magic pill, to cure and prevent!
Minds from afar were online every hour
And lo came the medicine they could proudly present!

And thus comes hope for better days n old ways!
To hurry on Monday mornings, shoes smartly done!
For we've braved so far and shall continue to brave
Welcoming the new year of hopes - 2021!
