New Year's Eve Poem by Liz Hope

New Year's Eve

I go to church.
We have communion.
With grape juice.
No wine.

Then I go to a youth group party.
I don't drink.
At midnight, no kiss for me.
I'll go home tomorrow at eight.

I'm not sure about my brother.
They say they'll have sparkling juice.
But I don't know.
I'll try to trust him.

A friend of mine does drugs.
That's what he'll do tonight.
I am quite sure.
I'll pray for him.

My New Year's Eve may seem boring;
but we have tons of fun.
I'll play Risk and euchre;
Until this year is done.
