New Year's Eve Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

New Year's Eve

When the clock strikes midnight tonight
or shortly thereafter
a little after, any tears or laughter
put on your coat and step outside
and pause to think about ever after
Feel the clear stark dark and Winter cold
Scan the tops of the pines and don't feel so old
Your story is not finished yet and more is to be told
raise your eyes to the sky
and reminisce about times gone by
and pause to think about why?
Though you miss someone so much
That inside you feel like cry
Look near and far and find a bright star
watch it sparkle and shine
The moon itself is sometimes blue
But it still shines down on you
It's cycles mark the passage of time
passing time is life, and not a crime
think about yourself as a star
because you have a kind heart for others…
You really are
and that will matter one day
after life has faded away
But for now, I just want to say
You feel like quitting life, I know
But I hope in it you decide to stay
Have a Happy New Years Day
