New Zealander Of The Year Awards Poem by Terence George Craddock

New Zealander Of The Year Awards

sports awards
knock out blows
roll out oak leaves

New Zealand awards
New Zealander of the Year
always fixates upon athletes

a body with muscles but no mind?

and the New Zealander of the Year
not New Zealand Sports Person of the year
must be an All Black a golfer a cricketer

a good sport must lead the country?

the question is does it punch at shadows or is it punch drunk?

and it is another knock out blow to the intellect!
and it is another knock out blow to industry!
and it is another knock out blow to art!

this is a sporting nation sports awards
dominate stage high school awards
second place academic awards

third place service awards?
a good kiwi loves sports
loves the Olympics

all muscle
never
mind
