Next Time You Hit Me - Poem by Shauna Stoltz

You say we're friends
then you hit me again
this time harder than before
leaving me on the floor

why are you doing this
i thought we were friends
but i guess not anymore
with another hit to my face

what did i do to deserve this
did i make you that mad
that you're willing
to hit a girl in the face

or are you just trying to prove
how much of a man you are
that you hit a girl
to 'put her in her place'

please tell me if I'm wrong
but somehow i don't think i am
i wish you'd respect me more
since we've been friends so long

next time you hit me
i won't just sit back
and let it slide
it's happened to much now

so next time you hit me
I'll retaliate back
and who knows what will happen
next time you hit me.
