Nicola Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

Nicola

Sick as a parrot is the phrase they use
And it describes the way feel today;
No task, no occupation can amuse
Me now or help me wile away
The empty hours when I just long for her,
Long for her company and for the way
She makes the world a much more happy place
And cheers me up although the skies are grey
And gives me strength. I've known her laughter chase
My blues away and looking at her face
I realize that life is still worthwhile,
When loneliness is banished by her smile
And I forget the misery and pain
That have been haunting me. O please, I pray,
Let her return and lighten up my day!
Don't let me moan and wallow in my grief!
Her blessed company has always brought relief -
It's no surprise I love her like I do,
She is my joy, she is my treasure too! !
