Nigeria Poem by Ini Mendy

Nigeria

Rating: 5.0

NIGERIA!
Lying across the Niger
Your breast, divided by Rivers
United though cultures diverse

NIGERIA!
Over fifty years, thee we hail
You look old, battered and frail
In you, there is strength and u have not fail

NIGERIA!
These children, you bore and birthed
Incestuously, by your offspring raped
Amongst your sisters, you have been enclaved

NIGERIA!
Your puberty started in 1960s
You still bleed daily, even in your 50s
We still suckle your breast, even in our 30s

NIGERIA!
Your children themselves, they name
Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba, they are not the same
Pointing fingers at themselves, what a shame

NIGERIA!
Our leaders leave you scatter and rough
We have toil hard and sweat tough
These lies to our youths and generation are enough

NIGERIA!
Today, we pray for your glory redeem
To be held again in high esteem
Your glory, your beauty, your elegance, we have foreseen

GOD BLESS NIGERIA

Brave utterances set aside for honest reflection. An insightful patriotic piece of poetry, written with clarity of thought and mind. A beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing Ini and do remain enriched.
