Night (Inside Myself) Poem by Cory Jensen

Night (Inside Myself)

Night.
The only time I feel myself.
Its mysterious and sinister
Everything I am inside.
Though daylight is plain
On the outsides of my face,
It shows I don't know my place.
Confused beyond measure
Beyond any compare.
Nighttime is my time
You will find me there.
Sobbing away the wounds
That will never go away.
Making marks on my wrists
that show I'm not OK.
Lies flow from my mouth
Keeping the world from knowing.
Night.
It fills my soul with wonders
With passion none can hide.
I hold it near my heart
As the sun fades;
into welcoming arms of black.
I laugh, until I cry.
No one can see with a blind eye.
Loosen the grip on reality,
To see the real me.
Night.
The way the world should be.
Cloaking the day with a steady hand,
Without one glance behind.
Break the silence, lift the veil.
Hunker deep into the velvet,
Dwell in which your heart beats.
As Night wraps His arms around.
Roughly shoving daylight aside.
My true identity gleams through,
Revealing a face underneath the light.
Night
My own prison.
An intoxicated fruit on the vines of Eve.
Dangling right in front of my gaze.
Dripping with forbidden sweets
Tales of passionate memories.
Night.
