Burden Poem by Cory Jensen

Burden

Rating: 4.8

Don't blame yourself for my mistake
For I took this on for both of us.
It was your burden to bear,
I couldnt stand the pain of you breaking down.
I took your burden as my own.
The hurt, and all the confusion,
The tears you never can cry.
I took them as my own,
To know what you feel inside.
You say your heartless,
That no love pumps your chest.
That goes to show you can't see what I do.
I see you radiating with love,
Love that is timeless.
Love that is endless.
A love that is mine and yours alone.
I took this burden on for the both of us,
To show that you do have love
In the hollowness of your heart.
Take a single glance upon our hands
Breathe in deep and long
Tell me is that our song?
From our hearts that sing
That beautiful melody
Of love.
Take one look at us.
I know that we have won.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

It's hard to bear another's cross, especially when we have our own to bear. I could feel the solidarity, the willingness to let go of you to have two. - But it's a double-edged sword, isn't it. Was it really a mistake? Or perhaps a lesson learned. Some just don't have it to give, which is certainly not your case. Powerful, Cory, and very painful. Great write, though! :)
