Night-Watchman Poem by Me.S Dey

Night-Watchman

With one heart-full of love -
You went away.
Did you leave something?
It’s always better to crosscheck.
In case you might miss it again.

You wished to touch the Sun;
Wished to be Sun-bathed.
King of darkness gulped you -
You sky got covered by the black cloud.

Flamboyant you cried for a carte blanche.
Maybe you thought the cloud would chain you.
The Sun of the brighter day was hailing you.
The darkness of night was so morose.
Night games were not charming you anymore.
It was like an opening batsman
Saving the game with a night-watchman.
Couldn’t you pour your heart out
In that game of adjustments.

It’s always better to play differently.
The game of hide-and-seek with the Sun
Getting out of touch of the cloud.
A cloud can never play this game.
It can never be at the field.
Let the opening partnership remain not out -
Night-watchman is always better in the pavilion.
