Nightmare Poem by Christal Blue

Nightmare

Tossing and turning all through the night,
Dreaming and screaming out of fright.
So real, but not at the same time,
In a dream, a scream is silent like a mime.
Run all you can, fight all you want,
The monster that chases will always haunt.
Unable to wake from this terrible mare,
Finally your eyes open from the tug on your hair.
Only to discover what you thought was a dream,
Is actually real and you’re unable to scream.
Hide under the covers all you want,
But the creature that lingers will always haunt.
Until the sun rises and lights up the room,
You lay there silent, stiff as a broom.
