Nineteen Twelve

I checked the time while driving
It was 1912
I wonder what happened in 1912
At 1912
I know at 1912 I was driving to pick up my queen
Who was the queen in 1912
of which ill fated empire
What was happening in my country in 1912
At 1912
I know what happened in 1964
A poet was born (me!)
and the world has never been the same
It got one more bard to make it hard
using soft words with hard meanings
but in 1912 i wonder how many poets were born
all of them now long gone
When I looked at the time
it was 1912
driving to pick up my queen
and was inspired to inquire
What happened in 1912
