No Beat Poem by Matt Fleming

No Beat

It was a normal day
Coming home from basketball
Get home to supper
Talking to the family
Then silence broke from one person
Eyes rolled back, they had no beat
Looked like a lifeless rock
Lay their body down and do CPR
Wait for the ambulance
Very little beat as they go in the squad
Tears shed when they leave
A body lays there in the squad dead
A little later he has a beat
In the hospital we go
And a long wait until heath is restored
