No Hint, No Sign, No Spoken Word Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

No Hint, No Sign, No Spoken Word

The day was bright, the air was mild,
We laughed and talked, just like a child.
You told a story, I told one too,
A simple moment, nothing new.

I thought we'd meet again real soon,
Beneath the sun, or by the moon.
A casual wave, a sweet 'see ya, '
Not knowing that goodbye was nearer.

No hint, no sign, no spoken word,
Of finality, as it occurred.
Just everyday, with you beside,
A parting kiss, I can't abide.

Now memories are all I hold,
A story left, forever told.
That last goodbye, I didn't know,
Was the last one, long ago.
