No Joke Poem by Paul Frederick

No Joke

Rating: 5.0

It was like yesterday
I never meant any harm
I was swarmed by intents
They killed me twice
Like a mallet
The pain was thrice shy
I pleaded like a billygoat
To no avail
Enter my savior
With exacting maneuvers
I said it was no joke
Cause you a croak
Doomsday a footnote
Rockday the order
I had my last pebble
Snatched from the table
I thought it a negotiation
Basement dissertation
Fired from one duty
Open hell's bounty
Where to go?
But for the foe?
The morning I was waxing
Nothing unlike maxim
I let Him do me
Otherwise I'd flee
Where all the morals?
The petty the big quarrels
Some wish they had never been born
Like the break of dawn
It's simply super ugly
To ask willy-nilly
So you thought you got the key
Brazen bumble bee
Honey everywhere
Tincture nowhere
When I crack it I feel it
You did this to heal it
Never go for the jugular
Or you'll have to haggle her
