No More Bad Dreams Poem by Casey Gochnour

No More Bad Dreams

Overwhelming fear conquers the mind,
Sleeping at night until the nightmare you find.
Tormenting dreams, deteriorating soul,
To deny is to invite madness, to accept is control.

Pain evolves to a whole new plain,
Unreal but drives you insane.
Tremble in despair as your world lay anew,
This world in your mind, this realm untrue.

Nightmares come to life, life’s worst terror,
Running from thoughts, irrational error.
But wake up, wake up to see,
Open your eyes and you’ll see me…

Everything is perfect, everything is fine,
Look out the window and see the sun shine.
Give me your face, give me your lips,
Hold me closer, wrap yourself around my hips.

Don’t ever let go, I’ll fight off your dreams,
The evil ones, no matter how scary it seems.
They can’t hurt you now, now that you’re here,
Once you open your eyes, they all disappear.

And even then there are nightmares that walk about,
Out in this life of ours, they live in your doubt.
They’ll knock you down and tear you up,
Fear will fill your cup.

Even nightmares live in life, the worst terror,
Don’t run from the thoughts, the irrational error.
Open up, open your eyes and see,
I’m holding your hand, do you see me?

I’m right here to share your pain, to share your fear,
I’ll never be far, always right here,
To hold you tight, I’ll never let go.
I’ll prove it to you, it just goes to show,

Don’t ever let go, I’ll fight off your dreams,
The evil ones, no matter how scary it seems.
They’ll surround us, but it doesn’t matter how,
They won’t hurt you now, you’re in my arms now.
