No More Words Poem by Lorraine Licona

No More Words

Rating: 5.0

No words have I left to tell you
All my heart is poured out like a river
And the fears hidden in deep-down places
I have brought to the light
Confronted you face to face
with my pain
I’ve borne my cross to you
and let it fall at your feet
so you might understand
the depths of my soul
my undying love for you
The past is only a flicker of light
which I hold in the palm of my hand
A fading memory
And the future…
As uncertain as our love for one another
And yet…
Within my breast
burns a flame
so bright
that it’s light
cannot be quenched
And it is this light
I bring to you in the naked darkness
as we rediscover our passion
and relearn the contours of each other’s body
It is now
At this moment
I lay my heart before you
as an offering for you to take
and hold
as a reminder
So that when I have left
and I am far away
you can feel it beating in the palm of your hand
For now
the choice is yours
You can keep it as a treasure
A precious thing
and guard it close
Or crush and destroy it
forever
There is nothing left for me to do
for I have no more words to say
No more ways to show my love for you
