No Shoes On His Feet Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

No Shoes On His Feet

When you see a man laying down on the street
with tattered clothes
and no shoes on his feet
and you pretend not to notice
but you're not that discreet
and you wonder if he has anywhere to sleep
or anything to eat
Remember it's just that you know more of winning
and he knows more of defeat
Separated by just a twist of fate
you're fat and happy
and he has no food on his plate
better take his hand and do something
before it's too late
