Noel Hartnett Poem by Francis Duggan

Noel Hartnett

I read it on the internet how Noel Hartnett had died
At fairs and marts in Munster he was known far and wide
A warm hearted fellow and in him nothing cold
A million calves in his life he must have bought and sold.

Noel Hartnett was a good bloke he had a heart of gold
But sad to say about him he did not live to grow old
Perhaps in his mid sixties he had an early call
From the one known as the reaper who will claim the life from us all.

'Twould seem he was not feeling well for a while he had been ill
But he will be missed from Millstreet Town and the road by Clara hill
A huge loss to family and friends and none to take his place
And those who knew and loved him well will miss his smiling face.

A well known cattle dealer tis sad to think he's gone
To the place of no return but his spirit will live on
From the suffering of his latter days in death he has found a release
Noel Hartnett was a good man and may he rest in peace.
