Non-Violence Art Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Non-Violence Art

Non-violence art

It is very much difficult to evaluate
Gandhiji's life and relate
Experience of truth
With all the proofs

What did this half naked fakir give?
The ideology of ahinsa* and to forgive
The sinners and his sins
And then make efforts to win

The Britishers had to leave
But still could not believe
His power with backing of mass
He had his own class

What the pain he received in his last days!
We are gathering to pay homage in our way
With total disregard of his love toward village industry
And spreading message of independence in the country

The british army left in haste
By giving communal and hatred taste
The borders remained unmarked
And refugees crossing homeland with feet naked

Millions lost homes and lives
They were uprooted in a manner our ears couldn't believe
It was sad commentary in recent history
There after three wars were imposed on the country

We remember his efforts to halt communal hatred
He went of hunger fast to preach misled people
He was dear and respected in millions heart
His role in independence war has taught us non-violence art
