Not Alone Afterall Poem by Sara Hol

Not Alone Afterall

My pieces begin to shatter
after years of hard work,
my thoughts become a splatter
against the side of my brain.

The weight of the world falls down
and I feel my bones weakening,
my tears fall in silence
and I hide my beat red face.

You hear of my worries
and concern streaks your brow,
your heart weakens at the site
and your determination strikes.

Your heart beat echoes in my ear
as you hold me close against your chest,
you whisper words of comfort
as you stroke the hair on my head.

My tears fall harder
at the embarrassment of my weakness,
but you reassure me of this normalcy
as you use your hands to caress.

The blackness begins to fade
as I feel our bond of love,
reminding myself of my charade
that I am not alone.
