Not Even Ashes Remain Poem by Sven Rhoads

Not Even Ashes Remain

You turned your back on your own blood
Let your partner drag us through the mud
No spine to stand for what is right
Salvaging nothing, there's no reason to fight

You burned your bridges to the smoldering ash
Stomping the remains into the earth
I hope you're happy with the hell you've made
Now that there's no chance to return
You turned your back on those who had your best
And spit in the eyes of those who cared
Your sorry soul cannot stand on its own
Now that not even ashes will remain

Buried everything that you once had
For a beautiful world of lies
One day we know it will drive you mad
So here and now we say goodbye

Clouds have gathered over your pseudo life
There is no glow left from the embers now
You walked on the edge of the crooked knife
There's no one left to hear you fall

Sad but true is the way it all came down
But you have become your own enemy
Hell and high water will come to drown
Hope one day you'll find such clarity
