Not Like That Beatles Song Poem by Aimee Kiefer

Not Like That Beatles Song

I hate to say this because it is not usually
the kind of girl I am, but Jesus Christ,
do I want to hold your goddamn hand.

Now, normally I'm not into that,
affection has never been my selling point.
But when I think of you, my insides start
running circles in my gut like they are
training for this year's marathon.

Normally, I am all about the action,
just trying to make your toes curl.
But I would love to just play with your hair,
or just hold your goddamn hand.

It is so unlike me to want anything to do
with anyone for more than a night,
but you could crash in my bed for days
and I would buy you a toothbrush,
or wash your clothes, fold your laundry.

I understand you are not really looking
and God knows you will not find much here,
but could you do me one small favor,
and just let me hold your goddamn hand.
