Not Looking Poem by Randy McClave

Not Looking

I currently don't want a courtship, I vow
And I don't want a relationship right now,
All that I want is a good friend
Someone to help me mend.
I want someone to relax with and talk to
Someone who I know will be honest and true,
Someone to have my back
And not that person for the sack.
I would like that friend on a regular basis
And I would feel quite happy and gracious,
Someone who is not looking for anything more
For that I do sincerely implore.
I want someone who I can dine with
Then together we can describe the foods we did whiff,
And maybe watch movies and tv as well
Never to argue or to shout or to yell.
I would like someone of the opposite sex
But, never to be known as my ex,
And then when others see us on the roam
The flirts by them will be unsent and I will be left alone.
Yes! I have been used and I have been burnt
Daily to God I pray that I weren't,
I also have been lied to and also cheated on
Promises given to me were just used to con.
I am not looking for an affair or a spouse
And I am not looking to share my house,
I am not even looking for a courtship
And I am definitely not looking for a relationship.
