Not One Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Not One

Not one

1.
He spoke with passion
-in his hand wounded bird
-its feathers spread powerless,
-he spoke with a voice that shivered:
-"Annually million birds are killed by,
-hitting the tall buildings…"
-his comment clear…with birds killed, no singing!
-I became inspired and shouted:
-"We are dumb! People get the things that they deserve! "
-surely meant to say that our worth is slaving inside the cubicles
-with nothing but headphones, screens in front …full of lies; naturally!

2.
Every word that we learn has a base
-in some time with a cause, story
-we may not remember how
-or when, why or where
-but I do remember
-word flirt!
-Mo and I and friend
-dated, met or chose be
-with three girls-sisters
-Mo was the smartest
-he knew what wanted
-he aimed for body so
-took oldest that was best
-our friend was stuck
-with minor, young sister
-I had the middle one
-good looking, well-behaved
-and smart…but not I
-sort of shy, sort of dumb
-unaware what to do, or start
-she somehow used "flirt"
-meant to say what we did
-was neither normal talk
-nor was it having sex…just flirt!

The same is true with many words
-I recall when and how, encountered!
