Nothing Is Permanent In Life Poem by Renu Kakkar

Nothing Is Permanent In Life

Verse 1
Friends and companions do not stay forever,
nor does a kingdom belong to a king forever.
Life in this world does not last forever,
nor do black locks of hair remain dark forever.
The Ketaki flower does not bloom forever,
nor is it the rainy season of Savan forever.
Trouble and hardship cannot linger forever,
nor does joy stay with us forever.

Chorus
Listen to the soulful melody of love,
I am always by your side,
Every shadow of life,
let me make it yours to abide.
Not every talk is filled with play,
nor every night spent in wisdom's light,
We do not sit in the shade forever,
where hearts first meet in quiet sight.

Verse 2
The joy of spring does not last forever,
nor the blazing sun of summer's might.
Youth does not stay steady forever,
nor wealth and fortune remain bright.
No one has held forever,
in their embrace the arms of a beloved,
Like the shade of a tree,
it fades away as time drifts like a glove.

Chorus
Listen to the soulful melody of love,
I am always by your side,
Every shadow of life,
let me make it yours to abide.
Not every talk is filled with play,
nor every night spent in wisdom's light,
We do not sit in the shade forever,
where hearts first meet in quiet sight.

Verse 3
Oh, let us walk together always,
keeping our bond so true,
At every turn of life's road,
let your presence be my view.
With sweet words that linger,
and a light that gently guides,
I will walk beside you forever,
like a drop where the river glides.

Chorus
Listen to the soulful melody of love,
I am always by your side,
Every shadow of life,
let me make it yours to abide.
Not every talk is filled with play,
nor every night spent in wisdom's light,
We do not sit in the shade forever,
where hearts first meet in quiet sight.

Zindagi main kuch bhi sthai nahi
Verse 1]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

Verse 3

[Chorus]

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem has now been made into a Hindi video song by me and is on my YouTube channel. The first two verses are original ones penned by the17th Century Sant Wajid ji Dadupanthi. Sant Wajid ji was a Pathan who had a spiritual awakening while hunting and killing a pregnant Doe, which made him renounce his lifestyle and become a devoted disciple of Sant Dadu Dayal. He lived in the 17th-century in present day Rajasthan. A Bhakti movement poet with Sufi-leaning, a mystic, and a prominent disciple of Saint Dadu Dayal within the Dadupanth tradition. He composed about 16 texts.
