Nothing Special Poem by Samantha Stough

Nothing Special

A lie so cruel
I cannot believe I still treasure
The one who hurts me most

Just another hope I waste,
A burden I carry,
A wound I boast

I miss you, he sighed
I want you, he whispered
I love you, he lied

I dreamed endlessly,
I begged silently,
And for him I cried

“You are so beautiful”
Turned to “Nothing special”
So, broken on the floor I lay

My love unreturned
Trust undeserved
And I’m the one whom for it must pay

I love the line that says, 'Another hope I waste, a burden to carry' full of pain, your words, the anguish you bore, born from the lies, it wounds.....
