In spring storms, the tendergreens
are novice sailors
riding coarse water.
Feeling the bitter salt
in sharp breezes and most
Yet Nature provides
by being battered to and fro
She teaches them of suffering, and
what it means to grow
Come summer
and she rebounds these gusts
But now they are calm, because
the growth of the greens formed
structured cooling leaves
To face the Sun and His fiery stare
He gives life to Her without a care.
Now equinox passes-
the wheel is half spun
The wombs of the forest
pregnant with fruit from His light
She will give back to all
and strengthen us against
His departing fright
But death must now visit
and the once young sailors
now wrinkled with weathered skin
She had toughened all that survived
and promises
Of the return of the King
