Now You See Me Poem by Anugo J. Edoka

Now You See Me

NOW YOU SEE ME

I have been dribbled across the corridors of social media

World's worst player

Terrorist, drug dealer

Internet fraudster, child killer

When people from where am from have opinions

We become African experts who knows nothing.

Journals don't get to see the face of the criminal

For you model his description around my identity

Am treated like am the devil's dinner

When we play, you assume yourself the winner

When you imagine the darkest side of humanity

No questions asked for all you envisage is me.

You don't see mandela

You see corruption, everything vulgar, you see Amin

You see limitations where potentials lay

Retardness instead of upward's way

Inferior, minor, everything but your equal.

But I have a lattice from which I climb;

From the grave you have dug for my anticipated fall.

Because I may have come from dirt;

I have become a resonating poet
If you see greatness, now you see me
