Step and tread and be, within a world of disintegration
To fathom the politicians, that led us to this devastation
Far be this, the future now, of a battered planet of black
Destroyed unto the very existence, of mankind’s stack
A mist of green hovers, feet above the place of survivors
Succumbing to the poisons, of radioactive atmospheres
Deformities of defective births, as the new dying begins
Here on in and now forever, as the price of warring sins
Cities stand in shadows of former pride, now obliterated
Abandoned museums and train stations, once populated
Never see their faces, as their hidden behind gas masks
A dynasty of death and suffering, for filling coffin casks
Trigger and the orders given, to send the fire to humanity
Thus reap the hell upon the very structure, of conformity
Look toward skies see constant storms, instead of heaven
Seek shelter in something, less burnt out and call it haven
Monsters that were once men, are roaming so nomadically
Mutilated by science and they exist, deformed so horribly
Creatures of Earth, now the relics of the species now raped
Every night haunted, by screams of the nightmares racked
Never to be felt again is, any, former sense of normality
Amongst this destruction, that laid to waste this society
For this earth now an orbiting molecule, of a slower death
Paranoid of human touch, disease may linger on their breath
Cold and lonely amongst the ruins, of the once beautiful
Leaders now skulking in hideouts, far beyond the dreadful
Sat and resting as the thud of my heart, prolongs this life
Death would be the new mercy, a paradise in nuclear strife
Hi V.G. Well done, a dark, yet truthful poem. I liked it. I now have 46 on the site. Hope all is well with you and the family and the job. Love Mum xx
