Number 208 Poem by Denise Hart

Number 208

Your big brown eyes stared back from the screen
A pleading look that reverberated me in between
You called me in to give you a home
With your lick and your tricks
You sensed your Queen
You sensed your throne

Number 208 it's your lucky day
A new life
A good life
A life of love
Awaits you today

Unbolt the gate
From the barking and the din
From the cries of the others
And what was their sin?

I will call you Tui
A songbird that sings
An affection companion
That has freedom and wings

You rescue me as I rescue you
Our bond is elastic
That springs from being true

I'm safe in your paws
As you interpret my moves
Our walks in silence
Are instruments in tune
