O! Lord Of The Night! Poem by Namratha Swamy

O! Lord Of The Night!

Come to me in the form of a dream
quietly to that shore of conscious death
O lord of the night you enchant my world
you cease my breath without a threat!

As the scorching sun burns bright and gay
my tears call you in utter dismay
O lord of the night I wait for you
battling through the light throughout the day!

At the spread of the dark cascade of your hair
the sky is abuzz with birds' whispers
your locks are bejeweled with bright stars
your sky is filled with pathos of a song!

My heart pulsates at your feet in vain
the heady incense of flowers suffuse my hymn
You O Lord of the night who enchants the world
I call you to come in the form of a dream!
