O My Valentine - Poem by Indresh Kumar

In the heart of mine
You dwell as Divine
O my valentine!
O my valentine!
Like a drunkard's wine
Like a patient's pine
You remain with me always
O my valentine.
Nothing in this world is mine
But you, o my valentine
From whom seperation would be my death
Or, else, at least the broken path;
On which I cannot go back or ahead
With a heart full of your love's pangs
For your memory will eat my head
And my body will feel my inner soul's bangs.
Where the true lovers ultimately meet
The very place after my death I'll seek
In case I lost my love in this world
Which never lets the lover's desires fulfilled.
You, the soul of my soul
Are not less than my goal
Which I'm toiling to win
By fair means or sin.
With you only would be my life better
With some other not more than a fetter
Where one is kept against his will
Where one is forced to swallow the pill.
Yet, I believe in the Divine
Let me not interfere the ways of Him
For, He'll set everything right
O my valentine, o my valentine.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

This particular poem I composed a couple of days before St. Valentine's Day.I thought some days later this beautiful festivity of love would be celebrated, but I was all alone in terms of having a lover. This very thought led me to compose this poem, which I dedicated to none but my future wife, whosoever she might be.
