I have seen many southern plantations
During my years of travel
It really opens your eyes, my friend
And lets the past beautifully unravel
It’s like ducking back a hundred years
Or possibly even more
You see how folks back then lived
Hear wonderful stories and folklore’s
There is always a lady of the manor
To greet you at the huge double doors
Stepping in from an extraordinary porch
And onto beautiful hard wood floors
You can see the old-fashioned kitchen
With dishes and pans from back then
Oh, how wonderful to see
The way time used to be spent
The gardens are lovely and fun
The barns and outbuildings too
We enjoyed the Oakland plantation
If only I could show it to you!
