Oath Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Oath

Oath

I swear I will fight;
-life is lamb, sacrifice.
-Stubborn, mountain-like
-will stand; kill or die…

Her name was Sandra.
-Her last name a Muslim's
- (I wondered…)
-sought reason; so, questioned.

Opened door,
-on the couch her husband:
- "He is an Egyptian! "

We spoke Arabic
-he revealed:
- "She is an Iraqi."

"What is your origin? "
- "Born and raised in Iran, "

Husband said:
- "You two are two neighbours, "
-I felt like grenade
-pulled was the trigger
-blasted:
- "No…No…No…"
-then told them:
- "Siblings we are and divided…"

I swear I will fight
-stubborn, mountain-like
-to delete these borders
-from face of the Earth.
-My life is too small;
-will stand; kill or die…

I swear I will fight.
Flags are to fool us.
Business, borderlines.
And cheating is anthem.
