Obliviously Perspiring. Poem by Kim Dang

Obliviously Perspiring.

It's just me
and the sound of my breathing
Consistent short gasps comprise my rhythm
I'm swallowed whole by piercing lights
at this stadium.

Devoid of direction, aimlessly maintaining my motion
around a plasmid formation with fertility factors
around eleven PM, this lonely hour
A self inflicted gale flirts with my cheeks, it grazes me
the brisk atmosphere on exposed skin - biting.
Meanwhile, all I can think about are blank pages, for
I'm obliviously perspiring.

Enamored; brought to my knees with such solace
Weight of my careless sweat, swinging of pendulum ponytails
Groping for the most efficient lung pattern, counting my exhales.

A sea of grains begging for my bouyancy,
A haughty mind dignifying its validity - by answering,
To feel this much freedom from irrelevant daily minutia,
My guilty pleasures; my stress crucial.
I'll keep going, regardless if miles to me means nothing to you.

To be completely naked from electronic accessories
I'm joining the athletes, in forging these secluded havens
Besides the scraps of clothing I'm donning,
I can assure you what remains is purely my sanctified biology,
Purposely stimulating the fibers of my brawn to enliven the rest of me.

Begon any debris of lethargicism!
Like shrapnel, the lactose penetrates, pulsates through my muscles
In this vulnerable moment while I hustle,
Let me make a confession
(This pain is welcomed)
It's a masochistic behavior I'll happily succumb to.
