Ocean Poem by Ngetich Kiptoo

Ocean

The ocean whines,
In hunger, in anger
It wants more
All rivers are running dry
‘It’s not enough’,
It frets

Who demands all these waters?
Is it the lobster, to multiply?
Is it the whale, to live?
Is it the anglerfish, to capture prey?

To me, you are the ocean
Running me dry
