Ode Tae A Computer Mouse - In Standard Habbie Style (Used By Robert Burns)

Rating: 5.0

Wee, slender, slippery get
That arrow, pointer, cursor met!
Across the screen I’ll run ye yet
Tae foul command
Yer flashing there, I weary bet
As tho’ ma hand!

Doon, across an up the page
Ye run an click wi’ ardour’s rage
An’ weel ye earn yer daily wage
On glaring screen
As solemn quiet, fades the sage
Bi nichtcome’s een.

O moosie there ablow ma han
I’d praise ye as ye wer ma fan
Tho there ye sit an ne’er gan
Tae stubble feils
Nor squeek nor eek nor plan
On harvest meals.

On! On! yer software driven
Clickin mad; mad fae Heaven
A pointer’s son o sisters seven
Gaed exclamations
Ye dae what’s ayways ay yer bidd’n
Withoot exaggerations!

Point, click, drag an dropp
Frae footnote tae ra page’s top
Ye run sae wild, an dinna stop
Ma sleek wee frien
Ye dance, warble, run and hop
Whar words hae been.

The schemes o mice and men
Are black an white an black again
An change in shades o colour’s ben
In super V.G.A.
Goodbye tae quill; an fareweel pen
This weary day.
