Ode To A Hummingbird Poem by Juan Olivarez

Ode To A Hummingbird

Oh to be a hummingbird,
Visiting every flower around.
Kissing them all, no need for words,
New ones never left unfound.

I'd fly around from Rose to Rose,
Petunias and Daisys I'd frequent.
And lick their nector, while spouting prose,
To me they'd all be heaven sent.

Every garden would be my home,
I could not choose I'd love them all.
I could'nt help it I would roam,
Flying right over the garden wall.

The scent of flowers would drive me mad,
And I would seek the sweeter ones.
Sweet perfume for a wandering cad?
No just a hummingbird having fun.

6/6/10 29 palms ca.
