Ode To Mom & Dad...'I Remember' Poem by Kevin Hayes

Ode To Mom & Dad...'I Remember'

I remember long ago how life just went to fast,
our parents made the good times good and bad times never last.

The summer fun, the winter chill, the fall left leaves to play,
through autumn time with friends around our lives were full each day.

I remember games of tag...and kickball in the rain,
basketball and so much more to numerous to name.

Our lives were good or so it seemed, us kids without a care,
our parents never letting on the cross they had to bare.

With money short and bills galore, so many mouths to feed,
I don't know how they made it work but work they did indeed.

Our Sundays always seem to be the day we waited for,
a trip was planned, a day of fun, none like the week before.

A day to fish or to explore, a trip to Old Man's cave,
a journey filled with scenery, the day we all behaved.

Our family had some trying times like every family does,
those times just made us stronger now than any family was.

My parent are like none before or none who've yet to come,
I wouldn't trade the life we've led for any tidy sum.

Through struggles great and sacrifices plenty,
they taught us kids values don't mean money.
