Ode To My Earth Poem by Vinod Vijayakumar

Ode To My Earth

My dear earth, were thou done rich
with the never seen green hued forests,
neither dark nor too light blued seas,
finest of grains and pebbles copious.
May be thy maker was not gratified - he
went ahead, in the third rock created faunae - that
cared to keep the creator contented. In the blue planet,
The supreme sighted something incomplete yet
and made a meticulous marvel that could mean.
The wonder in itself did have a quality
to command the creatures other than that.

Tardily the two-legged took up to multiply
and spread evil indefinitely in all directions.
It became a virus and started to infect
the very place that gave shelter and respect.
Such savagely unkind did call itself mankind.
It kept gaining strength and thought in the name
of so called the civilization and culture.
It killed the other produce of the maker
and its convenience did bring the confusion.
The man learnt not only to speak but to snitch,
to cheat, to communicate, to control and to convey.

Man became smart and went against the lord.
For his own progression polluted the place,
sullied the surroundings and reigned the rest.
Nobody to interrogate and to interfere but him.
Fought for survival and sought for soil.
In the beginning, diminutive were their tot and fight,
Later did it injure thine body like a spear of a knight.
With no obligation did he divide the refuge and thy
kept quiet all ages and ages since. Now he is acute
in thy trunk slowly crawling like a serpent,
killing you inch by inch venoming thy tegument.

He is drilling you, ditching you, disturbing your
sweet dormancy for your are slumbering and silent.
He hath spread like a cancer deep all into thine vein
and thou are becoming malignant and still asleep.
Mother earth, you should see thyself for how surly
hath the mankind changed your beauty once held.
Now the seas' blue is dark and dark is black, no land
for sand and dark of the green is now light and faint.
Trees - symbol the nature are fell to form the furniture.
The sound of chirp shall rarely be listened and the roar
of a panther is seldom heard. Brutes are now puppets.

My question to God - 'Did thou go mad by the ecstacy of
the establishment, frantic by the felicity of creation
and was that insist thou to create another to hinder the
joy and well being of the other makings? '. Man -
hath corrupted a major portion of thy torso and still
spoiling in search of something selfish. Everywhere -
he is found, not even a single piece of ground shall
be sans him. No zone to call its nature's own.
Doubt if God lives on you or man hath edged him out.
He destroyed thy design and erased it eternally.
He modified the making and stupefied stupid to be supreme.

Despite all the despair, discounting all the damage,
to the most ingratitude are you nurturing the numbs.
To whom shall this greatest of qualities arrive?
Such highest form of reverence and patience is one
Ages and ages should study and acquire the care,
Come what may be the hurt and scar, I petition
you to stay calm and not to hate the livings on thy hands.
Should a day sure to come when the human realize and learn
that there is a boundary for tolerance like thou and yearn
till which please keep the birds chirping, seas roaring, clouds
raining then they would all happen by the worldly changes of human mind.

Quite an origanl crafting of ideas and interpretation of what is wrong with us. An unanswered prayer by many to be sure. There are quite a few passages I like about the way you phrased your thoughts. I also like those passages where you used many words beginning with the same consonants; ex., convenience did bring the confusion. The man learnt not only to speak but to snitch, to cheat, to communicate, to control and to convey. and still spoiling in search of something selfish. Everywhere - he is found, not even a single piece of ground shall be sans him. Very nicely done.
