I think of you today, from afar,
as if a moment of some distant breath, while
somewhere a desert hawk swoops down
upon rare living waters,
and plucking out a fresh fish,
in complete silence, is filled - While
an old man, on the edge
of winter, sends the final chop
into the heart of an ancient oak tree,
it falling without sound - While
a squirrel, quietly gathering nuts,
stops, sits up, and looking far away,
sees only God knows what -
And you, wherever you are, alone,
resting,
feeling the slightest touch, you
pause and ponder upon old things,
your heart smiling.
And I smile -
Somewhere on the other side
of this incredible universe
two stars collide
in a wondrous blaze of glory,
becoming one with the Cosmos.
No one sees this, no one hears this, but
it is true non-the-less...
and then, of all things, you
come into view,
speaking my name -
