Of Tootoos

Finished short story,
Which is for script,
Of an artistic film.

Shows life of the Cree,
Orphan child's Prairies,
And his upbringing.

Heroine is Tootoos,
Young mother is widow.

Read many, many books,
And dug deep into looks.

All in all, it will say:
"Avoid incorrectness."

Paid dollars, in thousands,
Spent more than a year,
To meet them, travelled.

To obtain most details,
Visited, lived with them,
Spoke with their elders,
And neared perfection.

But still, humbleness
Demanded: "Share with them
Seek comments, go further…"

That brought some anger!

Eric said: "Change the names, "
Then, Cheryl said the same.

I agree, no offence,
Asked them for new names.

They were fast to erase,
But never could replace,
Any of cancelled names!
