A long journey
inside my body
inside my head
A long journey shared by others
showering me with kindness
immersing me in love
Real yet unreal
so vulnerable with broken bravado
I'm not a hero but a man
My body is faulty
strange cells invade key organs
so clever but too alien
The news is like a gunshot
deep into my guts
I reach for air to keep my life intact
I share the news
we weep
Is it the end?
Not yet!
Implants, rays, rods and pills
My body weakened my mind submerged
Two springs on I see the buds
I thank my dog
I see tomorrow, is it real?
We go together
get the news
no more vicious drugs
I am alive, officially alive
My heart is healing though tears still flow but
I am alive, officially alive!
