Oh Lord Poem by Janice Walkden

Oh Lord

Rating: 4.0

(in the style of Janis Joplins 'Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz? ')

Oh Lord won’t you buy me an acre of land?
My friends are on courses - they don’t understand
Worked hard all my lifetime - much more than I planned
So Lord won’t you buy me an acre of land?

Oh Lord won’t you buy me a self build house?
I’ve lived here for ages - with my kids and my spouse
We need much more space - not enough for a mouse
Oh Lord won’t you buy me a self build house?

Oh Lord won’t you buy me a motor home please?
The gypsy in me wants freedom to seize
Want to travel all over... so where are the keys?
Oh Lord won’t you buy me a motorhome please?

Oh Lord won’t you help us with peace on this Earth?
Some folks here ain’t helping with bringing much mirth
I know that you tried once with Jesus’s birth
Oh Lord won’t you help us with peace on this Earth?

Oh Lord won’t you help us share love and the light?
We can’t do it alone Lord - though try as we might
Its hard for us humans cos we’re not very bright
Oh Lord won’t you help us share love and the light?

Everybody!

Oh Lord won’t you buy me an acre of land?
My friends are on courses - they don’t understand
Worked hard all my lifetime - much more than I planned
So Lord won’t you buy me an acre of land?

Thats it.... but I’m sure there will be more to come! !
