Oh, My Lord Poem by Marites C. Cayetano

Oh, My Lord

Oh, my Lord
can I ask you not to save me
but save my dearest one?

Oh, my Lord
can I ask you not to have mercy on me
but have mercy on my dearest one?

Oh, my Lord
can I ask you not to light my way
but light the way of my dearest one?

Oh, my Lord
can I ask you not to be with me
but be with my dearest one?

Oh, my Lord
I won't ask your forgiveness
if I fail to please you
for I am not that man in the bible
who gave his son's life
to please you.

Oh, my Lord
I no longer want to be tested
'cause I have already done
more than I could
so please, oh please
I beg you...
please answer my plea.
