Oh Yes My Sweet Marie Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Oh Yes My Sweet Marie

He:
Cling to me always oh lovely Marie
A dear friend to you I will ever be.
I only wish you could love me true
From over the waves of the sea.
Oh when can I marry my sweet Marie?

She:
I love you madly my dear bonny-face
Without you, I feel such pain.
Hearken to me ~ I will say the phrase
over and over, again and again.
'How happy I'll be if you marry me'.

He:
When I am twenty or twenty-one
Always, I'll be close beside thee
So wait some more upon the shore
And the golden day will come you'll see
When bride and groom we will be.
Oh yes Marie, my sweetest Marie.
